Watts 009M2 Repair Kit: What’s in a Complete Rubber Rebuild
The most complete Watts 009M2 / LF009M2 repair kit is the factory-style RT complete rubber rebuild. It replaces the soft goods on both checks and the relief valve—discs, seat O-rings, diaphragm, RV disc, stem O-rings, RV seat O-ring, and cover O-ring. Order by exact size (¾", 1", 1¼–1½", 2"). Wrong revision or size won’t pass the next test.
Confirm 009M2 or LF009M2 on the device tag before you cart anything. Older 009 / 009M1 internals are different. So is the 009M3 / LF009M3: on ¾" and smaller, some plates read 009M3, and that device takes its own kit, not the 009M2 RT. For ¾" it is the ¾" 009M3 Complete Rubber Rebuild (Watts 888526); for smaller sizes, call us. See Reading the device tag.
What’s in the Watts 009M2 rubber rebuild repair kit (RT)
On our Watts 009M2 Complete Rubber Rebuild product pages, the rubber kit contents are described as:
Disc assemblies, seat O-rings, diaphragm, RV disc, stem O-rings, RV seat O-ring, and cover O-ring.
That matches the typical Watts total rubber parts kit for the 009M2 series (checks + relief valve elastomers). We do not list every microscopic O-ring name beyond what’s on the product page—open the size you need for the live SKU and fitment.
Shop links by size:
| Size | Shop product (Complete Rubber Rebuild) |
|---|---|
| ¾" | Watts ¾" 009M2 Complete Rubber Rebuild (SKU 886999) |
| 1" | Watts 1" 009M2 Complete Rubber Rebuild (SKU 887787) |
| 1¼"–1½" | Watts 1¼"–1½" 009M2 Complete Rubber Rebuild (SKU 887309) |
| 2" | Watts 2" 009M2 Complete Rubber Rebuild (SKU 887547) |
Fitment on the product pages: the ¾" RT page lists 009M2; the 1", 1¼"–1½" and 2" RT pages list 009M2 and LF009M2. If your ¾" tag reads LF009M2, call us to confirm before you order. Always confirm the model on your tag and on the product “Fits these devices” block before checkout.
RT vs RV vs VT (don’t mix these up)
| Kit type (common Watts naming) | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| RT — Complete rubber rebuild | Soft goods for checks and relief valve (most full elastomer refresh) |
| RV — Relief valve rubber | Relief valve elastomers only |
| VT — Relief valve assembly | Complete RV module / assembly path when rubber alone won’t fix it |
| CK1 / CK2 | One complete check assembly (first or second check) |
| RC1 / RC2 | Rubber for one check (first or second) |
| RC3 | Rubber for both checks |
Example relief valve rubber kit: 2" Relief Valve Rubber Rebuild. Example relief valve assembly (2"): Relief Valve Assembly — body lists seat, seat O-ring, stem and diaphragm assembly, stem O-ring, RV spring, and cover O-ring. Other sizes: confirm on the Repair Parts Finder.
If the annual test fails both checks and the RV, start with the RT for that size. If the test sheet shows the relief valve itself failing, an RV or VT may be the right cart—not a second wrong RT. A relief valve that discharges with no flow is a different story: see the failed-test table below before you order RV parts.
How to order without a parts book
- Read brand / size / model off the tag (photo helps).
- Open the Repair Parts Finder → Watts → size → 009M2.
- Or jump the RT links above.
- Ship from Rocklin or pickup at the counter.

After the rebuild
Retest per your water purveyor. If seats or modules are damaged, rubber alone won’t save it—call us with the test sheet and we’ll match seats/assemblies.

Reading the kit code on the box and the shop listing
Watts kit codes follow one pattern: RK, the device model, the kit type, then the size. A ¾" complete rubber kit reads RK 009M2-RT 3/4:
| Piece | Meaning |
|---|---|
| RK | Repair kit |
| 009M2 | Fits the 009M2 / LF009M2 family (not 009 or 009M1) |
| RT | Complete rubber rebuild — checks and relief valve |
| RV | Relief valve rubber only |
| VT | Relief valve assembly |
| CK1 / CK2 | First or second check assembly |
| RC1 / RC2 | First or second check rubber |
| RC3 | Rubber for both checks |
| 3/4, 1, 2… | Size, at the end of the code |
Our shop pages are titled in plain English (size, model, kit name) and carry the Watts part number as the SKU. Match all three — size, model, kit type — and the box you open is the box you needed.
Before you open the kit
- Shut off both shutoffs and relieve pressure through the test cocks.
- Note how each check and the relief valve came apart. A phone photo at each step saves the guesswork on reassembly.
- Keep the old rubber next to the new until you are done. It is the fastest way to confirm you have the right size.
- Inspect seats and modules while it is open. If a seat is scored or a module is cracked, rubber alone will not hold and you will want the check assembly or relief valve assembly instead.
What a failed test usually points to
| Test result | Usual cause | Usual fix |
|---|---|---|
| Check #1 or #2 leaking | Worn or cut check disc, debris on the seat | RT (both checks + RV), or check rubber (RC) / a check assembly (CK) for that check |
| Relief valve discharges or weeps at no-flow | Often a fouled first check, or inlet pressure dropping, per the Watts Series 009 instructions. Not automatically the relief valve rubber | Clean the first check, then replace its rubber (RC1; on ¾" the shop lists RC3, which covers both checks) or the check assembly (CK1); check for inlet pressure swings |
| Relief valve fails on the test sheet (opening point out of range) | RV diaphragm, disc or seat O-ring | RV rubber, or VT if the module is damaged |
| Fails checks and the relief valve | Age — everything is due | RT |
| Passes but weeps after a freeze | Freeze-damaged rubber or seat | Start with RT, inspect seats |
Always confirm with the tester's sheet. The numbers on it tell you which side of the device failed.
Frequently asked questions
Does the LF009M2 use the same kit as the 009M2?
The 1", 1¼"–1½" and 2" complete rubber rebuild product pages list both 009M2 and LF009M2. The ¾" page lists 009M2, so call us if your ¾" tag reads LF009M2. Check the “fits these devices” block on the page for your size before you order.
Can I buy just one check's rubber?
On 1", 1¼"–1½" and 2", yes: the shop lists first-check and second-check rubber separately (Watts RC1 and RC2). On ¾" the shop lists one kit that covers both checks (¾" 1st and 2nd Check Rubber Rebuild, Watts 887003), not a single-check rubber kit. Use the Repair Parts Finder with Watts, your size and 009M2 to see what is listed.
Does the RT kit include springs?
No. The RT is a rubber kit — discs, diaphragm and O-rings. Springs, seats and modules come in the check assemblies and the relief valve assembly. For a full repair in one box, Watts also makes a Complete Internal Parts kit, listed on the shop for 1" (887793), 1¼"–1½" (887794) and 2" (887795). Call us to confirm contents for your size.
How do I know it is a 009M2 and not a 009 or 009M3?
The plate says so. Read the full model string, revision included. 009, 009M1, 009M2 and 009M3 are separate models, and the complete rubber kits do not interchange; see Reading the device tag.
